The enumerators route:

To commence at Marlwood Farm,( late Cornock’s) continuing by the turnpike road including the houses on each side to Poultry Brook Cottage, thence down the west side of High Street to and including the Castle, thence to the Pound house, Old Rectory and up east side of High Street down Colwell Street to and including the two cottages at the Comb but excluding Knapp’s house, then to Joseph Mabbott’s at the bottom of Back Street, along by Rice’s and Eleys up the east side of High Street to the cottage in Soaper’s Lane, returning by C. White’s up to the house above A, Bartholomew’s.

So the route started at the bottom of Gloucester Road and worked up towards The Plain.
