STREET ALBUMS  OF THORNBURY

Thornbury and District Museum has a wonderful collection of photographs and we have been lucky enough to use these on the Thornbury Roots website.  We have also been given some images by people who have kindly contacted us after seeing Thornbury Roots and by other friends and contacts.  We are grateful for all of these and would like to share them with you.

Click on the image below and you will be directed to Google Web Albums.  I haven't yet found a way of returning to this page from the Web Album (except by using the 'Back page' button), but I'm still looking and would be grateful for any ideas!  If you have mouse with a middle scroll button and you use a browser with a tab facility, you can click an album thumbnail below using the middle button to open the album in a new tab.

Please remember that these images are not intended for any commercial use.  They cannot be downloaded.  Better quality images of most of these photographs are available in Thornbury Museum.  These can be seen at the museum by prior arrangement.  For further information please contact enquiries@thornburymuseum.org.uk

If you have any comments about the photographs or if you wish to add to our collection, please contact thornbury.roots@virginmedia.com

High Street
2008 2009

In 2008 and 2009 the Thornbury Museum undertook a project to photograph the various shops and businesses in the High Street and thus provide a snapshot (in every sense) of the nature of the town and of social trends in the country.  High Streets change quickly and already some of these businesses have moved away and new ones appeared.  We are grateful to Jane Marks and to Naomi Morrow who took these lovely photographs for the Museum and for sharing this wonderful opportunity for research with us.  We would also like to join them in thanking the traders and business people of Thornbury for giving up their time for this project
