Thornbury and District Museum has a wonderful collection of photographs and we have been lucky enough to use these on the Thornbury Roots website. We have also been given some images by people who have kindly contacted us after seeing Thornbury Roots and by other friends and contacts. We are grateful for all of these and would like to share them with you.

In 2008 and 2009 the Thornbury Museum undertook a project to photograph the various shops and businesses in the High Street and thus provide a snapshot (in every sense) of the nature of the town and of social trends in the country. High Streets change quickly and already some of these businesses have moved away and new ones appeared. We are grateful to Jane Marks and to Naomi Morrow who took these lovely photographs for the Museum and for sharing this wonderful opportunity for research with us. We would also like to join them in thanking the traders and business people of Thornbury for giving up their time for this project. Click on the link below to view the photos. The photos are stored in a Google web album which will open in a new window.
