In 1887 the “Thornbury Corporate Charities” was established and in 1890 the Thornbury Town Trust took over the property and administration of the charities, which had been for so long in the hands of the mayor and aldermen. Titular mayors continued to be elected at the annual Court Leet until 1929. |
